Iran’s cement production is to witness a rise during the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21) upon completion of new development plans, IRNA quoted a member of the Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) as saying.

Without referring to the exact amount of increase in cement output, Vali Maleki, who represents Meshkin-Shahr, Ardebil Province, at the Majlis, said that MPs have devised a plan that urges the government to help the country’s cement factories increase their production in order to supply the domestic demand and, therefore, cut the cement imports.

Some 32Mt of cement was produced during the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20), while domestic consumption during the said period surpassed 40Mt, he added.
