Colombian grey cement sales rose to 669,303t in February 2007, up 17.3 per cent YoY, according to data of the Colombian institute of cement producers, ICPC.
Colombian grey cement sales totalled 1.32Mt for the period January to February 2007, up 7.9 per cent YoY.
Cement consumption in Colombia was driven up by the rising number of public and private construction projects, including new housing and infrastructure expanding programmes.
The areas, where grey cement consumption is concentrated, are Bogota, with one-sixth of the total for the first two months of 2007, Antioquia, with one sixth, Valle del Cauca and Cundinamarca. The provinces with highest increase were San Andres and Quindio.
