Secil Lobito says it may spend around US$100m in the construction of a new cement factory, with a 600,000tpa capacity.

The administrator of Secil Lobito, Victor Rodrigues, said that the start of the construction work of the new factory only awaits the authorisation of the Cabinet Council.

Its current cement works has a production capacity of 240,000tpa, but due to the frequent breakdowns in the equipment it has been difficult to reach the full production levels.

To overcome this deficit, Secil Lobito has resorted to importing cement from Portugal.
