The But Son Cement Company yesterday officially started construction on a second production line at its But Son factory.

The line, which is valued at over VND2,807bn (over US$175.4m), will be able to produce 1.6Mt of cement a year, it said.

Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries Corporation was the project’s main contractor, supplying designs, equipment, materials and technical services, said the company. The contract, with a total value of VND1,600bn ($100m), was the expansion’s largest.

Yesterday, the company celebrated its 10th anniversary.

But Son Cement Joint Stock Co, an affiliate of the VietNam Cement Corporation, made its debut on the Ha Noi stock exchange late last year.
