Italcementi to invest in Bulgarian upgrade
22 January 2007

Italian cement giant Italcementi Group will spend BGN 360m (Blugarian lev) on the upgrade of its Devnya Cement plant in the northeastern Bulgarian city of Devnya, the company said.

The reconstruction will make the production process more environment-friendly and will raise the plant’s capacity by some 50 per cent.  The upgrade will be completed by the end of 2009. The plant exports 30 per cent of its output.

The company bought Devnya Cement in 1998 and the cement mill Vulkan in Dimitrovgrad, southern Bulgaria, in 1999.
