Chile cement sales up 3.5 per cent

Cement sales in Chile during the first 11 months of the year reached 3.78Mt, up 3.5% on the same period 2005, local press reported.

In the month of November alone, Cementos Bío Bío sold 127,654t of cement, up 15.2% on the same month one year ago, while Cemento Melón increased its sales 3.7% to 131,835t. Cemento Polpaico’s sales slipped 7% year-on-year to 116,556t.

Despite the lower sales in November, for the year Polpaico leads the market with a 34.3% share. Cemento Melón controls 33.6% and Bío Bío has 32.1% of the market.
