Vasavadatta Cements, a unit of the Kesoram Industries has set itself a target of more than doubling the production of clinker and cement after the inauguration of its fourth unit on the outskirts of Sedam in Gulbarga district in August. 
 
A spokesperson of the company told The Hindu here that the production capacity of the Sedam plant, which was 4.1Mt now, would be increased to 9.1Mt after the inauguration of the fourth unit in August next year.  
 
He said work on the new unit was in advanced stage of completion. The production of the clinker would be increased from 3.3Mta now to 6Mta. The third unit of the Sedam plant was inaugurated in October this year.  
 
Vasavadatta Cements has been awarded ISO 9001, 14001 and IS 18001 certificates. The Sedam plant produced three grades of cement including 53 graded Vasavadatta Gold, 43 graded Vasavadatta Super and Birla Shakti Portland pozzolona cement using the fly ash.  
 
The spokesperson said the limestone deposits in its Injepalli captive limestone mine could last six decades. The factory proposed to increase the present captive generation of power from 43.2 MW to 73.2 MW by installing the fourth captive power generation unit. At present, 25.2MW of power was generated in Plants 1 and II and the third unit of the captive power plant was in advanced stage of execution to produce an installed capacity of 18MW.
