Vietnam’s FICO-Tay Ninh Joint Stock Cement Co. (TAFiCO) yesterday November 26 kicked off a project to build a cement plant with total investment of VND2.8 trillion ($175.81 million) in the southwestern province of Tay Ninh.

The Fico-Tay Ninh cement plant will be capable of producing 4,000 tons of clinker a day or 1.5 million tons of cement a year.

The new facility is scheduled to become operational in two years.

The new plant, along with the Fico cement plant in Hiep Phuoc (Ho Chi Minh City), are set to annually turn out a combined two million tons of cement.

In related news, Cam Pha cement, from the biggest capacity cement project in Vietnam so far, will be officially sold on the market from next month, said Vietnam Construction Import-Export Corporation (Vinaconex).

The project was kicked off in 2002 with total cost of nearly VND5 trillion ($312.5 million) in Cam Pha, northern Quang Ninh province.
