New orders for Siemens, Egypt
31 October 2006

Siemens recently won a contract for the supply and operation of the Beni Suef cement plant. The contract comprises the supply of all necessary equipment (including transformers) and commissioning to begin operations at a capacity of 12000 KW.

Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) Large Drives (LD) was chosen from amongst seven other bidders to supply the drive system for the ID fan. It is worth mentioning that Siemens was the only local company contributing to this project through its official representation in Egypt, Siemens Limited. The contract was signed by Dr. Hany Loka, Senior Vice President of Siemens Limited Egypt and Head of Automation and Drives, as well as Mr. Khaled Badawi, CEO Lafarge – Titan.

The estimated time of delivery for this project is March 2007 during which Siemens is expected to deliver 2 drive sets for ID fans including the transformers of the pre heater tower, which are utilized for proper heat distribution within the kiln. Siemens will also be holding on site training sessions to provide the technical staff with the knowledge required to operate the newly installed system.
