Donac starts work on $100m cement plant in Dong Nai, Vietnam

The Dong Nai Construction Material and Roofing Sheet Joint Stock Company (Donac) yesterday started building a cement plant with total cost of VND1.6 trillion ($100m) in southern Dong Nai province.  
 
The facility, covering an area of 17.4ha of land in the Ong Keo Industrial Park, Phuoc Khanh commune, Nhon Trach district, is designed with annual capacity of 2.8Mt.  
 
In the first phase costing VND700bn ($43.75m), the plant will turn out 1Mta. The phase, which includes the building of a cement grinding mill and a port capable of handling 20,000DWT freighters, is scheduled to be completed in April 2008. 
 
The second phase with investment of VND900bn ($56.25m) will raise the plant’s annual capacity to 2.8Mt.  
 
When operational, the new facility is expected to employ some 1,000 people.  
 
To supply clinker to the plant, Donac also kicked off a project to build a clinker production factory in northern central Thanh Hoa province in July 2006.
