Cemex Austria to Sell Prefab Concrete Division

Cemex Austria, a 100 per cent subsidiary of global cement producer Cemex, will sell its prefabricated concrete component unit Readymix Fertigteile GmbH to Upper Austrian sector firm Franz Oberndorfer GmbH for an undisclosed sum aiming to streamline its strategy and focus on its core business, Cemex Austria said on October 12, 2006.

Villach-based Readymix currently has three production sites.

Cemex Austria with 40 production sites and 750 employees is said to be Austria’s leading prefabricated concrete producer, which also has 26 stone and gravel quarries. In 2005, the company generated some €214m (US$267.8m) in sales.
