Semapa H1 net jumps 59 per cent, Portugal

Semapa said net profit soared 59 per cent to EUR33.2m in the first half from EUR20.9m a year earlier, thanks to high margins in both its divisions.  
 
Sales grew two per cent to EUR767.3m from EUR751.4m and EBITDA shrank one per cent to EUR210.8m from EUR212.2m.  
 
Semapa’s 50-per cent owned Secil cement business achieved the better performance, posting an EBIT margin of 21.3 per cent as it contributed EBIT of EUR50.7m on sales of EUR237.8m.  
 
Semapa said it expects business trends to remain much the same in the second half.
