UK£22m contract at Lafarge Hope works, UK
29 September 2006

Lafarge Cement UK, which operates Hope Works, has announced a new deal with distribution partner Turners (Soham) Ltd, aimed at maintaining high levels of customer service and increasing delivery efficiency.

The contract, which is worth over UK£22m a year and will last up to six years, was signed recently, after a comprehensive 18-month tendering process.

It sees Lafarge continuing the relationship it has had with Turners for the past six years.

This signing of the contract follows on from Lafarge’s investment of over UK£7m in renewing its own lorry fleet last year.

In combination, these developments are set to see Lafarge further improve the quality and punctuality of its delivery service.

"This represents excellent news for the company, for each of its seven manufacturing plants and network of depots across the country, and, most importantly, for its customers.

Lafarge Cement UK’s supply and distribution director, Mike Cowell, says: "We already have a strong working relationship with Turners - built up over the last six years, so were delighted that through the tendering process, the company again stood out as the one for us to work with.
