16,000t of cement available this week from CCCL

Approximately 16,000t  of cement will be available for distribution this week by the Caribbean Cement Company Limited (CCCL).

This is the word from the Ministry of Industry, Technology, Energy and Commerce (MITEC), in conjunction with the Incorporated Master Builders Association, the Hardware Merchants Association, and the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce.

At a joint meeting at the Ministry today (September 18), the entities reported that last week, the CCCL sold 17,342t of cement with 3,624 being bulk, 1,239 in jumbo bags and the remaining 12,479t being regular bagged cement.

The entities disclosed that year-to-date sales amounted to 704,000t, compared with 633,447t for the similar period last year. Of this amount, 79,994t were made available from imports by private companies, while the remaining 624,006t were from the Cement Company.

The entities also informed that an additional 44,300t of cement should soon be made available from two shipments which have been received by private companies, Mainland and ARC Systems.

Last week Mainland received 42,000t of cement while ARC Systems got 2,300 tonnes.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that Buying House’s shipment of 30,000 tonnes of cement is expected to arrive by September 20.
