The supply of cement into Jamaica will be significantly increased. A statement from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce says Mainland Cement and ARC Systems will be receiving 44,800t of imported cement.

An additional 57,000t is expected to be received by ARC Systems and Buy House Limited before the end of the month.

The island’s sole manufacturer of cement, Caribbean Cement Company Limited, says 16,000t will be available from its plant this week.

The Industry Ministry says several shipments of cement will be arriving in the island this month which should ease the current shortage of supplies and allow companies to rebuild their inventories.
