25 July 2006

Vietnam will not have to import cement for domestic consumption by 2009, the Vietnam Cement Association said. Deputy Minister of Construction Tong Van Nga said that the national cement production output is expected to reach 50Mt annually by 2010.

He also suggested that domestic cement producers devise strategies to transport cement from the north to the south to maintain a balanced market and to increase the competitiveness of their products when Vietnam joins the World Trade Organisation.
