FLSmidth signs two US contracts

FLSmidth signs two US contracts
16 June 2006

FLSmidth has been successful in winning two contracts totalling more than US$44m.  The first contract is for the cement kiln system for the new line at Essroc’s Martinsburg, West Virginia Plant. The equipment will be designed for a production of 5000tpd. FLSmidth’s scope of supply includes new equipment such as an ILC 5-stage preheater, a ROTAX-2 kiln, and an SF Cross-Bar cooler. Certain project engineering, management and commissioning services for the new system are also included. The ability to meet the customer’s strict emission limits and to produce both normal and low alkali clinker were key factors in Essroc’s selection of FLSmidth. Essroc is part of the global cement producer Italcementi Group.

A second contract is for a new 3000 tonnes per day clinker production line at Keystone Cement’s plant in Bath, Pennsylvania. The scope of supply includes an FRM raw mill, an ILC/SLC-D 5-stage preheater, a ROTAX-2 kiln, a Multi-Movable Cross-Bar Cooler complete with Hydraulic Roller Breaker, and a CF blending silo. The system is designed to operate with a variety of fuels and fuel mixtures. Keystone Cement Company is owned by Giant Cement Holding Inc., a fully owned subsidiary of Cementos Portland Valderrivas of Pamplona, Spain.

For both contracts, FLSmidth’s strong local presence in the United States was a differentiating factor. All engineering and project management will be performed by FLSmidth’s US project centre based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
