Five new cement plants with a total capacity of about 3.75Mt will become operational in the current year (Iranian year ends March 20), an official at the Ministry of Industries and Mines said, MNA reported. He put the nation’s current year cement production capacity at 35,200,000 tons and noted that the figure was expected to hit about 72Mt by the end of Iran’s Fourth Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan. 

The total cement produced last year amounted to some 32,656,000t, however, the target figure for the year had been set at 33Mt he said. “Therefore, 99 per cent of the objectives were realised.”

Fars-e-No and Kashan cement production plants annually producing 1Mta and 600,000tpa respectively came on-stream in the past year, the official explained. He also noted that, Firuzkuh and Qaen production lines too were renovated in the same year.
