Union members at northern Nevada’s largest cement provider have approved a new contract, averting a strike that could have crippled the local construction industry. Union spokesman Richard "Skip" Daley told News 4 a majority of employees at Nevada Cement voted to accept the contract offered by management Monday night. The deal marked an end to a month of negotiation and strike threats by workers over benefits, pay and pension.
