Workers at Nevada Cement reject contract offer
28 March 2006

While their contract expired at midnight Friday, the workers have no immediate plans to strike, union officials said. Ninety workers at the company belong to either Laborers’ Union Local 169 or Teamsters Local 533. Union officials said Nevada Cement is the region’s major supplier of the most critical of all construction materials and a strike could cripple the region’s construction industry. Richard "Skip" Daly, Local 169 business manager, said workers and company officials are scheduled to meet this week in an attempt to avert a strike. The two sides will discuss concerns about health insurance and pensions. Published under Cement News
