08 March 2006

Lafarge India, a part of Lafarge Group and the market leader in eastern India, has launched a premium variant called Lafarge Concreto. Concreto was developed by Lafarge’s state-of-the-art laboratories that is networked with the Central Research Institute in France. The company has leveraged its combined knowhow of 173 years and its experience across 75 countries to develop this unique product.  Concreto, with its superior quality, helps in building better structures that last longer. It is an all-purpose cement that can be used for varied applications such as roofing, foundations, beams, columns, plastering and brickwork. It is specially formulated to provide a denser concrete mix than normal cement.

This contributes to greater strength development and lesser incidence of cracks over time. Uday Khanna, CEO of Lafarge India, described it as a step forward in the quest to provide world class products to people. ’Orissa is an important market for us. It is our endeavour to identify and develop superior innovative products for individuals who spend their life’s savings to build dream homes. Concreto has been received well by consumers in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand,’ said Ujjwal Batria, senior vice- president of the company.
