Himachal govt warns cement truckers
02 February 2006

The Himachal Pradesh government has warned truck operators at Gujarat Ambuja Cement plant at Darlaghat, 45-km from here, with cancelling of their permits if they went on strike. Nearly 1000 truck operators at the 2Mta plant had threatened to stop loading of cement and clinker, demanding an increase in freight charges. The truckers threat to stop work comes despite a Himachal High Court order. The state government has warned a penal action, besides cancellation of permits, against the truck operators.

Himachal Pradesh principal secretary (transport) Avay Shukla, said the matter of freight revision was under process and he had held several meeting with industrialists and truck operators and an independent consultant had been appointed to give opinion on technical and economic parameters. The report of the consultant was expected by end of this month.
