Sinoma wins Saudi contract

Sinoma International Engineering Co, China, signed a contract with Saudi Arabian counterpart Saudi Cement Co (SCC) last December to construct the Hofuf cement plant with a daily production capacity of 20,000tpd. At US$580m, this is the largest single contract in international cement industrial equipment fabrication, equipment supply and engineering history. It is also one of the biggest general overseas contracts for the Chinese engineering industry.

According to the contract, Sinoma International will complete the two clinker production lines in 30 and 34 months respectively. The scope of work covers the entire range from raw material crushing to the production of cement. It includes technical research, designing work, equipment fabrication, purchasing, construction, installation, commissioning and staff training.  Completion of the two production lines will bring SCC’s production capacity to over 7Mta.
