Dutch authorities fine concrete producers
13 January 2006

Dutch anti-cartel watchdog Nederlandse Mededingingsautoriteit (NMa) has fined 10 concrete mortar producers Euro 6.0m due to unfair price agreements, NMa said on January 12, 2005.  According to NMa, the fines size varies from Euro 82,000 euro to Euro 873,000.

NMa stated that in the period 1998-2002, the 10 companies located in the western Zuid-Holland province and in the central province of Utrecht, have informed each other about the price changes they intend to make, after which they based the prices of the products on the mutual agreements. The cartel agreements were revealed after several companies’ contractors sent tips to NMa. Published under Cement News
