Cemento Melón submits new plant for approval

Chile’s Cemento Melón group, controlled by France’s Lafarge, has submitted to the national environmental commission (Conama) an environmental impact study (EIS) for its new cement milling plant in Region V, newspaper Diario Financiero reported.

The plant would require a US$20mn investment and will complement the cement supply provided by Cemento Melón’s La Calera plant, reaching a production of some 300,000tpa. Conama - will now have 120 days to review the EIS and decide whether to issue its approval for the project, Conama said on its website.
