South Korean registered ’DEA’ a bulk carrier loaded with cement and en-route from Greece to Albania was saved from sinking around 2 miles off the Himara shores, Albania.
Official sources from Vlora harbor office told ATA newswires that the ship complete with Albanian crew and skipper had been loaded with cement at Igumenica port Greece and was on its way to Durres port."
According to sources, at around 21.00 the ship suffered an engine failure and began taking on water, meanwhile its skipper Simon Tota sent an SOS signal. Prompt arrival of the local coast guard enabled the evacuation of all the non-essential crew as well as escorting the ship into the Himara bay. Published under Cement News
