Cement consumption in Spain rose by 5.1 per cent YoY to over 46.8Mt in the 11 months to November 2005, the Spanish cement makers association Oficemen said. Cement output in Spain stood at 45.5Mt, rising by 5.9 per cent. Spanish cement imports totalled 8.5Mt, up 14.5 per cent. Exports decreased by 10.1 per cenet to 1.27Mt.  The highest increases of between 18 per cent and 25 per cent in terms of cement consumption were registered in the regions of Castille-La Manche, Madrid and Extremadura.  Cement consumption in Spain is seen at record high of over 50Mt in 2005 and 51Mt in 2006. Spain is expected to rank first in Europe in terms of cement consumption in 2005, followed by Germany and Italy.
