In a strategic move to expand and grow its foray of businesses internationally UEM Group had announced the appointments of two senior directors to spearhead its International Business Division.  In a statement today, the group said Datuk Rosli Sharif, 50, has been appointed Senior Director, International Business, covering the Asean, Middle East, African and OIC (Organisation of Islamic Conference) markets effective Jan 1.  Rosli is currently the Managing Director of the Group’s manufacturing arm, CIMA (Cement Industries of Malaysia Bhd). 
 
With over 20 years experience in both the public and private sectors, Rosli has been involved in both construction and manufacturing related activities.  At UEM Group, he was instrumental in turning CIMA into one of the largest cement manufacturers in the country. 
 
Halin Mohd Hashim, 50, will succeed Rosli in CIMA.  Halin was appointed as Chief Operating Officer of CIMA effective Dec 1 2005 and will be appointed as Chief Executive Officer effective Jan 1, 2006. He was previously the Chief Operating Officer of TIME Reach Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of TIME dotCom Bhd responsible for the payphone business. 
 
Tan See Yin, 49, has been appointed Senior Director, International Business, responsible for the China and India sub-continents markets.  He has been with the Group since 1990 and has held senior management positions in various UEM Group companies. 
 
Datuk Ahmad Pardas Senin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, UEM Group said that these changes are necessary to provide an added impetus for UEM to move forward in driving growth especially in preparing to compete more aggressively both locally and internationally.  "I believe that with a stronger and more dynamic management team, we will be able to accelerate improvements and bring about positive changes to the Group." he concluded.
