Algerian ECDE exceeds output targets
09 December 2005

Algerian cement producer l’Entreprise des ciments et derives de Chlef (ECDE) exceeded its 2.0Mt output target for full 2005 on December 2, 2005, the company CEO said.  The company now expects to close 2005 with an output of 2.09Mt. ECDE produced 1.02Mt in 2003 and 1.82Mt in 2004 selling cement into five provinces - Chlef, Ain Defla, Relizane, Tissemsilt and Tiaret

The two Japanese-made cement production lines of ECDE were put into operation in 1978 with a capacity of 2Mta. However, this volume had until now not been achieved. In 1998, the production process underwent a complete electric automation under a renovation programme started a year earlier.
