Lafarge North America, the leading supplier of construction materials in the US and Canada, today announced that it will build a new concrete pipe plant in Edmonton, Alberta and expand its Calgary, Alberta and Winnipeg, Manitoba pipe operations. Using state-of-the-art equipment and automation, the new plant is expected to be the most efficient concrete pipe operation in Western Canada .
In addition, both the Calgary and Winnipeg pipe facilities are currently being expanded. When completed in 2006, their combined production capacity will increase to nearly 140,000t.
