Peru cement sales up in Sept 2005

Peruvian domestic cement sales increased to 389,416t in September 2005, up 11.6 per cent year-on-year, the Peruvian Association of Cement Producers (Asocem) reported on October 18, 2005.  Peruvian cement exports totalled 67,491t in September 2005.

Peruvian domestic cement sales totalled 3.13Mt for the period  January to September 2005, up 7.87 per cent year-on-year. Peruvian cement exports totalled 544,491t for the period January to September 2005, up 21.2 per cent year-on-year.

Cement sales were pushed up by the higher number of both private and public construction projects in the country. Cement sales are expected to climb 12.9 pct year-on-year in October 2005. Peruvian domestic cement sales are seen to increase 8.1 pct year-on-year in  2005.
