Semen Tonasa is planning to invest at least Rp 2.5 trillion to increase its production  capacity  as  well  as  build  a new plant in Pangkep, said the company’s  newly  elected President Director, Drs. Sattar Taba, adding that the  investment will be executed upon the completion of a feasibility study on the plan. Taba said that PT Vista had won a tender, held by Semen Tonasa’s shareholders, to construct the new plant.

The  new  plant  will  be built next to Semen Tonasa’s other plants in Pangkep and is expected  to  start  operating  in  2009.  When  asked  about  cement price increase,  Taba  admitted  that  an increase of seven per cent has been imposed since 1 October 2005.
