Dangote to Produce 10Mt by 2006

The President, DangoteGroup of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has disclosed that the group’s new cement industries in the country will by 2006 produce 10Mt of cement annually.  Dangote stated this in speech recently at the foundation laying ceremony of Ibese Cement Company in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun state.  He said both Obajana Cement Plc in Kogi state and Benue Cement Company Plc will hit the market with a combined output of 8Mt from the first quarter of 2006.  Dangote said that the philosophy of his organisation is to make Nigeria self-sufficient in vital areas of need and development through manufacturing and distribution by Nigerians and for Nigerians. 

While reeling out his plans for Ibese Cement, Dangote disclosed that a leading world cement technology and plant design company, FLSmidth of Denmark has been contracted for engineering and supply of plants and machineries.  Dangote who expressed confidence in FLSmidth said that the company’s engineered plants are showpieces all over the world. He said that the first in the series of production lines of the Ibese Cement is designed for the production of 5000t of cement per day. According to him, a railway link is foremost to enable finished products reach the ports and other customised regions.
