Vietnam’s cement industry told to target exports

Vietnam’s cement industry told to target exports
30 September 2005

President Tran Duc Luong has asked the cement industry to become an exporter soon instead of being an importer as at present.   Speaking at a meeting with officials of Vietnam Cement Corporation in Hanoi on Wednesday, Mr. Luong called on the industry to boost production as the nation had a big market, with increasing urban and infrastructure projects and abundant natural resources for cement production. He urged the industry to constantly renew technology and to improve the skills of technicians to realise the target.

Mr. Luong was told that in the past nine months, Vietnam has produced 13Mt of cement, or 2.5 times higher than the combined output of the past 10 years.   "The increased production output should go in line with a high-skilled workforce and an efficient management system," the State leader underlined, saying if all requirements are fulfilled, they will enable the Vietnam Cement Corporation to become an industrial group and a strong economic conglomerate in the coming time. - VOV news reports  Published under Cement News
