29 June 2005

In an interview with Reuters, Mustafa Parlak, Head of Turkey’s Competition Board said that they have worked on methods to prevent breach of competition rules in cement sector, and they might propose single price mechanism for the sector. Parlak noted that companies set high prices in the regions where the competition is not fierce. On the other hand, in the regions which are far away form the production centers, the prices are set at low levels despite the transportation costs if the competition is severe, he furthered. According to Parlak, a single price may be set for the cement and ready concrete which would include transportation costs.  Published under Cement News
