HeidelbergCement’s Turkey Joint Venture Invests €100m

Turkey’s Akcansa, a joint venture of HeidelbergCement AG and Sabanci Holding, said it would invest €100m to increase clinker production capacity to 5.7Mt from 3.8Mt by the end of 2007.

Akcansa is the leading cement and ready-mixed concrete producer in Turkey. The company plans to invest in its Canakkale plant on the Aegean coast, which also serves HeidelbergCement AG’s international customers via its own deep water port facility.

The joint venture was established in 1996. Akcansa operates two cement plants, one grinding facility and 23 ready-mixed concrete plants in Turkey.
