Egyptian cement maker Orascom Construction Industry plans to build a cement factory in Indonesia, an official said.

Orascom plans to build a factory with an annual production capacity of 2.5Mt to cost an estimated Rp3trn (US$319m), Agro and Chemical Industry Director General Benny Wahyudi said.

Orascom is still studying three possible locations for the factories Cibadak in West Java, Gombong in Central Java and South Sulawesi.

Benny said the production of the company would be disposed of on the domestic market to help cope with a possible shortage in supply in the next few years.
