Baticim to produce 1.5Mt cement in 2005, Turkey

Turkish cement, clinker and ready mix concrete producer Bati Cimento (Baticim) plans to produce 1.5Mt of cement in 2005.

The company increased its cement output by 5.2 per cent YoY to 1.417Mt in 2004, Baticim board chairman and CEO, Tufan Unal, said. 

The company’s factory broke its clinker and ready mix concrete record in 2004 producing 1.455Mt of clinker, up 2.2 per cent YoY. 

Baticim achieved cement sales of 881,000t in 2004, up 13 per cent YoY. It exported 568,000t of cement and 221,000t of clinker. 

Baticim also achieved record-high ready mix concrete sales of 1.478Mm3, up 28.7 per cent YoY. The company plans to increase ready mix concrete sales to 1.6Mm3 in 2005. 

In 2004, Baticim put into operation concrete plants in Cesme, Bergama, Dalaman and Sarigerme with total capacity of 330m3/h increasing the number of its concrete plants to 19.  The company also acquired 15 cement mixers and three truck-mounted concrete pumps in 2004. At present, its fleet consists of 169 cement mixers and 39 concrete pumps. Baticim established recycling facilities at three of its plants in 2004 and plans to set up recycling facilities at another four plants in 2005. 

Baticim plans to build a grinding and storage plant in Aliaga, near the Nemrut Bay, western Turkey. The company has already bought a land plot in Aliaga and plans to start the construction in 2006.
