China’s Huaxin sees rapid growth

Huaxin Cement Co. Ltd sold 11Mt of cement and clinker in 2004, up 111.5 per cent year-on-year.   Huaxin, one of the top 10 cement producers in China, is headquartered in Huangshi City, central China’s Hubei Province. Holcim has a substantial minority stake in the group.
With a capital base of US$137.8m in 2004, the company now has an annual production capacity of 9Mt of clinker and 17Mt of cement.  

At present the company is reportedly building six new plants with a total daily production of 23,000t of clinker. The projects are scattered in Hubei Province, and southwest China’s Yunnan Province and Tibet Autonomous Regions. Of these projects, two clinker projects with a combined daily output of 8000t have recently been put into production.  

In addition, two projects for just clinker grinding with a combined annual output of 2.1Mt have been recently put into production in east China’s Jiangsu Province and Hubei Province. Another three grinding mill projects  are also being built in Jiangsu and Hubei provinces.
