31 December 2004

As reported earlier in the week, Samudera Shipping Line, Singapore, now confirms that one of its cement carriers capsized when tidal waves struck last Sunday and that ’only four crew members were rescued and the group is still in the process of locating the rest of the 19 crew members’. Samudera said that Sinar Andalas was in the port of Lhok Nga in Aceh, Indonesia, at the time.  The company has sent an emergency team to the site to ’seek up-to-date and accurate information, investigate the situation, and take necessary actions to rescue the ship and crew members’.
