Historic cement plant to be demolished
13 December 2004

The "old cement plant" located east of Dewey, Oklahoma, USA is slated for demolition over the next several weeks, officials associated with the project said recently. The former Portland Cement Factory will be demolished in stages, with the smoke stacks slated to come down next week, according to Doug Sanders of Oilfield Pipe and Supply Co. At one time the factory, which was acquired by Oilfield Pipe and Supply Co. in 1983, was one of the area’s largest employers and was reportedly the largest manufacturing plant in the state of Oklahoma. Incorporated in 1906, Portland Cement was also a large supplier of crushed stone. Oilfield Pipe and Supply Co., which manufactures and refurbishes structural products, plans to use the acreage for steel inventory.
