Cement capacity of Oman plants to reach 4Mt

The production capacity of Omani cement factories is estimated to reach 4Mt during the next two years, Commerce and Industry Minister Maqbool bin Ali bin Sultan said. The cement industry has been flourishing in Oman to keep abreast with the ongoing development in construction and architecture, he said while opening the 13th cement industry conference and exhibition at Al-Bustan Palace hotel Tuesday.  He added that Omani cement factories attempt to utilise their membership in the Arab Union for Cement and Building Material (AUCBM) to ensure success in various production and marketing fields.

AUCBM Chairman Prince Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Kabeer, said this event is held at a time in which Arab cement industry has achieved considerable development.  He said the number of Arab cement factories reached 125 with a design capacity of 142Mt of cement per year, which accounts for seven per cent of total world production.
