Cement production up by 15.3 per cent to 1,047,000t In October, Ukraine

In October, cement production rose by 15.3 per cent compared with October 2003, to 1,047,000t, according to the State Statistics Committee.

In October, cement production fell by 7 per cent or 79,000t compared with September. In January-October, cement production rose by 22 per cent or 1,705,000t compared with January-October 2003, to 9,464,000t.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in September cement production rose by 16.1 per cent or 156,000t compared with September 2003, to 1,126,000t.

In 2003, cement production rose by 24.7 per cent compared with 2002, to
8,916,000t. More than 15 enterprises produce cement in Ukraine, and their
total annual capacity is more than 20Mt.

Meanwhile, Russian cement producer Mikhaylovtsement has released its cement
output statistics for the period Jan-Oct 2004. During this period cement
output of Mikhaylovtsement was over 1.5Mt, up six per cent against the same
period 2003, Eurocement reported
