Austrian industrial group Kirchdorfer plans to build a $6m facility for production of sand, gravel and concrete near the Bulgarian Black Sea port city of Burgas, Bulgarian business daily Dnevnik said on Tuesday.  "This is just the beginning, we plan serious expansion in this business," Dnevnik quoted the director of Kirchdorfer Group’s Czech cement plant, Otakar Vesely, as saying.  "We already have two companies, which deliver sand in the region of Sofia," he said, adding that the Austrian company has sold 500,000t of sand so far this year.

Kirchdorfer also plans to open a limestone quarry to the south of Bulgarian capital Sofia and a stone quarry near Burgas in 2005, Vesely said.  The company, which is a majority owner of Bulgarian stationery maker Hemus Mark, said earlier it planned to fully relocate its Austrian stationery production subsidiary Brevillier-Urban to Bulgaria.
