13 October 2004

Bamburi Cement has launched month-long celebrations to mark its Golden Jubilee.  The firm’s managing director Didier Tresarrieu said in a statement that the celebrations would be marked by community development projects and customer market visits.  "We are using this opportunity to show our appreciation for the support of our customers over the last half century," Mr Tresarrieu said.  The company would also focus more on environmental conservation, he said.  A senior company official, Mr Raphael Thyaka, said more than Sh1 million would be donated to various community initiatives in Mombasa, Athi River and Nairobi.  Lafarge Cement division president Michel Rose will also attend the celebrations that will culminate in a grand luncheon in Nairobi to be presided over by vice president Moody Awori.
