Votorantim is installing a 3rd cement production line in the Aracaju plant (Sergipe state) with US$100m investments to increase exports of cement and clinker. According to the chairman of the company’s board, Mr. Antonio Erminio de Moraes, Votorantim intends to create an export route as of the Northeast region. Cement exports will be shipped from the Port of Barra dos Coqueiros while clinker will be exported through the Port of Cabedelo (Paraiba state) to Canada, where Votorantim owns a cement plant. Meanwhile the group is studying the construction of a railroad to move cement from Aracaju to the port since the product is currently transported via road. Clinker is also exported to Africa.
