South Korean Kimaxtra plans to invest 18 mln euro ($21.7m) in the construction of a clinker grinding plant in the industrial zone of the port of Sines, southwestern Portugal, it was reported on September 7, 2004.  The plant will be for grinding, storing and shipment of cement, Portuguese business daily Diario Economico said.  The project targets to create some 62 permanent jobs and sees an annual output of some 500,000 tonnes of cement.  The construction works are expected to start by the end of 2004. The new plant will compete with the identical plant Mossines, controlled by Portuguese cement company Cimpor - Cimentos de Portugal SGPS which is situated in the same industrial zone of Sines.  Kimaxtra is reported as a subsidiary Kimax Trading from Hong Kong, represented in Europe by Madrid-based Dicotrade.
