Spanish cement maker Cementos Portland Valderrivas SA posted a net attributable profit of EUR50.9m  (US$61.5m) for the first half of 2004, a 5.1 per cent YoY decrease, the company said.  EBITDA increased slightly to EUR129.2m (US$156.2m).

The consolidated turnover of Cementos Portland  stood at EUR440.8m, up 5.5 per cent. Sales of cement and clinker totalled 5.1Mt, up 6.2 per cent, sales of concrete totalled 2.6M3, up four per cent, sales of aggregate rose 33.8 per cent to 9.5Mt and sales of mortar stood at 304,000t , up 6.6 per cent.

Cementos Portland is a subsidiary of Spanish construction and services company Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas SA (FCC).

Meanwhile Cementos Molins SA posted a net profit of EUR40.2m  (US$49m) for the first half of 2004, down from a net profit of 42.1 mln euro (US$51.3m) from January to June 2003, the company reported. The turnover of Cementos Molins  5.5 per cent YoY to EUR254.9m ($310.7m). EBITDA stood at EUR81.2m (US$99m), an increase of 7.8 per cent.
