The manager of Bijar Cement Plant, Mansour Najafi has said that the ban imposed on the export of cement to northern Iraq a month ago was lifted on Wednesday. He told Iranian news sources that the ban had to do with the shortage of local truck transportation.

"The revenue of exported cement formerly standing at US$45/t has now increased to US$55/t. Some 59,800 tons of cement are produced by Bijar Cement Plant every month, of which 10,000 tons are exported to Iraq and the remaining is used domestically," he added. According to the official, the plant is set to export 150,000 tons of cement to Iraq in the current year.

“ Our own plant needs US$35m to implement the projects aiming to expand the plant and increasing its output, which can only be earned through such exports," he concluded.
