Saudi Eastern Province Cement Q1

The cement output of Saudi cement producer Saudi Eastern Province Cement Company (EPC) decreased to 589,000t in the first three months of 2004 from 649,000t in the corresponding period of 2003.

Clinker output was 494,000t, compared to 521,000t. Local cement sales stood at 419,000t, against 511,000t, while cement exports decreased to 87,000t from 108,000t.

The total output of Saudi Arabia’s eight cement companies rose to 6.1Mt from 5.6Mt in that same first quarter period in 2004/2003.
